Introduction:
Is analogue the new trend for 2026?
Well, yes, you heard that right. As of 2026, most of Gen-Z has collectively decided that physical media will be the new lifestyle for the new year.
Why is that?:
With the world moving fast from conflicts, AI becoming more advanced by the second, and everything becoming more expensive, sometimes it feels like we might need a break and re-live reality. After the news that Netflix joined with Warner Brothers, bringing Theaters at risk of extinction, people are taking matters into their own hands. It is time to own things again. I mean, seriously, can you imagine a decade where you could play music in a constant loop without losing an ad ruining your moment? It was possible then; it is possible now!
What is an Analogue Tote Bag?:

An Analogue Tote Bag is a bag that contains physical Media that prevents someone from wasting time on social Media. These bags are a MUST HAVE for traveling, hanging out with friends, get-togethers, boring parties or even home time. What are some items you can put in your Tote Bag?

A Digital Camera:
Digital Cameras provide quality photos (and maybe videos, depending on the type) that will capture life in a unique and treacherous way.

A Physical Book or Magazines:
Have a book that is the size of your palm. Have a book you are truly interested in. It’ll take some searching, but the right one will make you want to read just one more chapter for the 38th time. Magazines can give you more insight into the world, but it has a limit compared to social media. The best part is that you own these things and can pull them out anytime you’re bored.
A Sketchpad, Journal, or Puzzle:
Have some sort of doodle board with you. When you let your mind wander for so long, you might feel tempted to pick up that phone. That is where your note pages come to the rescue. Let your imagination run into your paper.

A Game Console:
Maybe being isolated without some entertainment isn’t your drift. Grab a portable gaming console. Something you can pull out when duty calls. Older Games don’t have an infinite time-lapse. So, finishing a game can give you a sense of gratitude.

An MP3 Player:
Remember when I mentioned no monthly payments? The greatest thing about Portable Music Players are the ad-free mechanics. Unlike Spotify or SoundCloud’s constant interruptions that cost you time and money, an MP3 only takes a simple download from your computer. Convenient and easy.
Here are Honorable Mentions that didn’t make it to the list:
A Portable Movie Player
A Flip-phone
A mini radio player
Crochet or knitting kit
Scrapbook
Clay, Slime, Stress Reliever
Cards (Uno), Mini Games
Kindle
Conclusion:

Social Media is not bad. Buuut, it is also important to remember that there is time for everything. Spending too much time on Instagram is not good, just as over-eating, or over-sleeping. Spend time scrolling, but also spend time separating and limiting yourself from the internet as well.
