Do You Read?

Introduction
My favorite subject is reading, because I just physically can't do math. I’m the least skilled at it compared to my family. When it comes to ELA and Vocabulary? I feel like a needle out of a haystack. I can help with essays, reading personal stories, and spelling. I don't think I'm good at it because it's my favorite subject; I feel like reading has left a huge impact. So when someone tells me they don't do it as much as they should, I feel like they're really missing out. Of course, I don't think of it too much. But when I hear it all the time, it's worth mentioning.
Think about it, someone out there goes to school, comes back from sports or work (maybe both), and the last thing they do is scroll through their feed throughout the night, "wake up", then redo the entire process. I get it. Not everyone truly has the time. Then again, you're limiting yourself, not only from expanding your knowledge but also from grasping a wide-view of different life experiences. You're also staying up waaay too long on that phone...
I don't want to sound corny, but it seriously feels like an adventure. Try slowly adding it to your routine.

I recently heard NASA got rid of its largest library earlier in January. Instead of donating, they're thinking of tossing them all away. When we have books taught at school, it feels like most people don't want to take the time to actually read. Instead, let Chat GPT handle the summarizing, then sit back and go through TikTok, complaining about how boring it is to pick it up and read nothing. Another thing, I don’t see textbooks used in classrooms anymore. It’s like reading is not a priority. My little sister reads, and I bet she could name many more novels than plenty of adults in my community.
Pick Something Up
There are so many books out there, ask me if you need one. If you don’t like the first chapter, read something else. And if you already read books, try something out of your comfort zone. I like reading Adventure and Dystopian Thrillers, so I tried to read a romance novel instead. Recently, I finished "Stay With Me” by Mila Gray. It was a really good read, and I plan to check out more of her stuff (if you have any recommendations, please let me know). As of now, I’m reading “Monday’s Not Coming” by Tiffany D. Jackson and a “Teen Anxiety Survival Guide” by Lucie Hemmen. One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES is called “Concrete Rose” by Angie Thomas (she’s one of my favorite authors). If you end up skimming any of the titles mentioned, I would love to have a conversation about them.
I am not a very smart person. I am more than average. Reading is like the only way I exercise my brain. It encouraged me to start dream journaling, be artistic, and be brave enough to start a blog like this. Imagine what it could do for you.
Conclusion

If you don’t read, don’t feel bad or targeted. Keep doing what keeps you sane and happy. It’s just—only God knows how much I wish I could see libraries filled, book-inspired movies airing, and conversations around them sparking amidst friends (NOT only in book clubs). All I’m saying is, I think YOU should find something out there that suits you. Even if it's a little article, magazine, recipe, or heck, fanfiction, by all means, pick up something and attain new knowledge. Read!
